Yoga is the removal of the waves that disturb the peace within the mind
— yoga sutras of Patanjali

In yoga philosophy, the 8 limbs of yoga serve as guiding principles, a form of moral and ethical code to help us live happier, more meaningful lives.

  1. Yama: attitudes toward our environment

  2. Niyama: attitudes toward ourselves

  3. Asana: physical postures

  4. Pranayama: restraint or expansion of the breath

  5. Pratyahara: withdrawal of the senses

  6. Dharana: concentration

  7. Dhyana: meditation

  8. Samadhi: complete integration

As you can see above, the physical aspect of yoga only comes in third place, not first. Yoga is much more than mastering a pose, it is a way of being. Not just when everything is going great and exactly the way we want it to go. It is how we show up when "you know what" hits the fan! It is how we embody the yoga off the mat, in crowed grocery stores with empty shelves, standing in long lines and being forced to stay at home for weeks at a time. Let us be kind to others, be kind to ourselves, move our bodies, breathe, control our impulses, focus, quiet the mind and live a whole life. That is the yoga!

New Weekly Live Classes

I have been secretly working my little asana off to accommodate the requests I have been receiving to teach virtual classes. So I am thrilled to share this holistic well-rounded weekly practice with you. By taping into the body’s innate ability to self heal, these classes are designed to not only sustain your mind, body and soul, but fuel them during these unprecedented challenging times. It is crucial now more than ever to prioritize well-being, and organize our whole lives around it, since nothing weakens the immune system like stress. These practices utilize yogic techniques that expand the lung’s capacity, optimize the respiratory system and boost the immune system. You will release tension and toxins, increase your body’s alkalinity, and achieve an immense level of relaxation and overall wellness. This is the most comprehensive yoga program ever created!

I look forward to practicing with you! See you on the mat!
