To All The Yoga Teachers That I Love

~ A message from my heart to yours ~

I just logged-off of a webinar about the State of the Wellness Industry with Mindbody CEO and Co-founder Rick Stollmeyer, and felt called to reach out to you and share what I have learned.

It was comforting to realize that I am not alone in feeling uncertainty in the future of the yoga industry and my path as a yoga teacher. So I wanted to let you know that if you have been feeling fear, doubt, and loneliness, know that this is true for most of us right now. That to be fearless, is to be humanless, especially during unprecedented challenging times such as these. So it is important to acknowledge that these are difficult times and whatever it is that we are feeling is valid.

I know that many of you have stepped up and transformed, and adapted at lightning speed. Had to learn a completely new way of teaching and delivery, become a tech expert, and a media production professional overnight. I am here to tell you that there is a silver lining.

In my past life, working as an Organizational Behavior Expert in the corporate world. I was part of the change management team during one of the largest mergers in corporate America history, DIRECTV was acquired by AT&T. What I learned from that experience is that when a sudden change happens, even with all the chaos and uncertainty that comes with it, a new normal then begins to settle in.

Learnings, Outcome and Future Opportunities

  • This pandemic definitely accelerated virtual wellness. Shifted people’s behaviors, in terms of practicing online is now a new habit.

  • It also forced yoga teachers like me, who are shy, to get in front of the camera and develop a new skill set.

  • Community building is not limited to our mile radius anymore. This is an addition, not a subtraction. We can now expand our reach and scale globally and serve people who don’t have access to health clubs and yoga studios in their area.

  • When things go back to normal, in-person sessions will be a premium, and the value of it will rise.

  • At home digital wellness is not going away after this is over, there will be a hybrid between virtual and in-person practices. That’s a good thing, as it allows us to diversify our income.

If you are reading this means that you still care. If you still have breath in you, you keep going! If your heart is in it, there are always opportunities to innovate and be creative. The demand and need for wellness and mental clarity have never been higher and will continue to grow. People want to be healthy. This pandemic has created a wellness revolution! If anything, it shed light on how people who live healthier lifestyles and have a solid mindfulness practice are at less risk than those who don't. The result being that self-care whether it be mentally, physically, or spiritually has become essential and more valued than ever.

I hope this information serves you, and know that I am here for you. If you know a yoga teacher that would benefit from reading this, please share and spread the love. Always trust that you are welcome to reach out to me with any questions or even to just say hi. I miss you all to the moon and back!!

Sending you a virtual hug!
