How I Went From Barely Touching My Toes to Becoming a Certified Yoga Instructor
The universe knows the perfect timing for all those things you want, and will find, through the crack of least resistance, the best way to deliver it to you ~ Esther Hicks
I have witnessed first hand the practices of yoga heal, reform and even save people's lives, mine included. That is why it is my purpose in life to share them with as many people as possible, and since I can not accomplish this great mission all on my own, it has always been a dream of mine to lead yoga teacher trainings, and train others to become certified yoga teachers. The world needs more yoga teachers that have proper training and understanding of yoga science, ancient yogic wisdom and yoga philosophy. Holding the seat of the teacher is a great responsibility, way beyond getting into an insagrammable pose. Humanity is in desperate need for inner peace and sustainable tools to navigate life in a more graceful way.
I worked diligently for five consecutive years to create and build my yoga school, the Yogi Maha Method. From creating the curriculum, scheduling, rolling out the training, homework assignments, final exam, and eventually becoming accredited under elevated standards through Yoga Alliance! Wohoo!
In 2020 I was about to deliver my first 200 hours of Yoga-Alliance certified teacher training, when the lock down heavily hit all the yoga studios in Los Angeles and as a result, you guessed it, my training was canceled.
It wasn’t until January 2023, that the timing was right and the students were ready, that I was able to lead my first ever, in person, yoga teacher training at Embody Through Yoga in Woodland Hills, CA. Although I am the lead in delivering the training, a good teacher never stops learning. I learned and grew so much from this training. I was in complete awe to see the transformation of the trainees unfold right in front of my eyes. Hearing them repeat the teachings that I was merely a conduit for only solidified my belief that I was born to spread the teachings of yoga. One of the cohort graduates Tiffany Yau, shares her training experience with me, and explains it beautifully in this article.
